History
Claiming "roots back to 1988", the business was formally founded in Dallas, Texas in 1998 and began franchising in 2006, with over 126 franchises opened as of 2010, up from just 17 franchises in 2006, according to The New York Times. Franchisees pay a $24,900 franchise fee, according to a 2006 report.
In 2008, company founder Matt "Red" Boswell sold the original Dallas-Ft. Worth area territories to Mark Hamel for $1.2 million, enabling Boswell to focus on growing the North American franchise operations, rather than cleaning up after 5,000 area dogs each week. Mark Hamel sold the DFW franchise to Pet Love groomers.
